I’m invested in developing a new paradigm of leaders.

Most leadership education, books, trainings, workshops, focus on “topics.” Economics. Statistics. Entrepreneurship. Communication. Management. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
But knowledge alone is not enough for life’s complexity and challenge.
I focus on what’s missing.
Skills and Practice. Not just any skills.
I focus on what you needed to learn to be effective in your life and relationships—but you didn’t.
SKILLS to “regulate” emotional reactivity that derails you from best effort and intentions within seconds.
SKILLS to create meaningful connection - and repair it - amidst stress and emotional reactivity, across divides of difference and diversity.
“I take a deep breath, and connect with myself and it feels like freezing time to reflect about the situation and self-regulate (usually to de-stress, or to be grateful about a positive event).” (Student quote)
We need these skills, now more than ever, as leaders in our personal and professional lives.
Transforming through this global crisis, as individuals and as a collective, depends on it.
Balance emotional and cognitive intelligence
”Self-regulate” internal emotional reactivity and “co-regulate” with others using external interpersonal skills that build trust and safety
Consider interconnection and complexities at different levels of a system (individual, interpersonal, group, organization, community, industry, country, greater ecosystem).
Note: Maybe this is the beginning of a definition for a “Deep Stream Leader” or “Intersectional Leader”?
Testimonials
I think about Noticing and Naming all the time and it is amazing! I am an impulsive person so this is helping me a lot. I take a deep breath and connect with myself and it's like freezing time to reflect about the situation or self-regulate (usually to de-stress or be grateful about a positive event.) - Jessica Slocovich
You practice internal and external dimensions of leadership.
You know how to “get present” and re-ground by “self-regulating” your internal reactivity when under stress.
You create trust and safety by sharing about your own experiences and vulnerabilities.
You empathize with others’ experiences.
You engage with external interpersonal skills that help “co-regulate” from stress and build trust, safety, and influence
You consider interconnection and complexities at different levels of a system
You understand how everyone internalizes messages from society (involving social identity, intersectionality, power, and status), which shapes how we perceive, judge, assume, react, behave, about ourselves and others.
You look for and respond to how stereotypes, norms and bias from a system/cultural level play out in intrapersonal, interpersonal, and group dynamics
You balance emotional and cognitive intelligence
You’re effective at building relationships and thinking strategically
You’re intentional about how to engage when, depending on the context of people and goals

You’re a leader with a busy life. Overwhelmed at times.
You put effort into your relationships. The challenge is…
Human relationships are hard. Period.
People are complex. Feelings are messy. Life is stressful.
And you probably spent more hours being taught how to drive a car than learning how to navigate the tricky terrain of relationships and interpersonal connection.
It doesn’t have to be this way.

Dream it.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
