COVID-19. Climate disruption.
Race-based violence. Political division.
Conflict in our own families and organizations.

There is a great need to come together amidst uncertainty and upheaval to celebrate our differences – and our shared humanity.

Many feel isolated. Overwhelmed. Staring at the divides between us–and within ourselves–that may seem too wide and too deep to overcome.

It is time for freedom from fear and polarization that undermine the connection and belonging we long for.

Breathe. Share. Listen Deeply. Witness. Connect.

In celebration of AAPI month, Dr. Lynne Morrow and Erica Peng will lead individual and interpersonal mindfulness practices in a spirit of discovery and joy!

  • Use breath and movement to relax and settle your nervous system

  • Engage vocally in a musical call and response

  • Learn about the significance of collective singing in building community and movements for peace and justice

  • Share and listen deeply to validate each others’ experience – across race, gender, and other dimensions of difference (this “Partner Practice” draws from Erica’s Haas course, “Interpersonal Skills and Embodied Leadership”)

  • Experience joy and belonging from connecting meaningfully in community

It was so peaceful, calming, and energizing all at the same time. I could literally feel the energy and positive vibes of those involved. I am definitely looking forward to the next gathering.
— Loyrisha Aucoin, Haas Staff member

Lynne and Erica forged a deep friendship through their first thrilling collaboration in 2013 when they led a group of singers to Cuba for a cultural exchange with Cuban artists and musicians. This was a profound experience of guiding people to walk across the “bridge of difference” toward a shared human community.

Erica Peng creates transformative learning experiences to help leaders and teams practice how to build–and repair–emotional connection

…across divides of race, gender, social identity, power dynamics, and other dimensions of difference

.

Her course, “Interpersonal Skills and Embodied Leadership,” is one of the most in-demand of all MBA courses at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
